The Chisam line continues with James Chisam who was born in northern Ireland in 1777. But an interesting change happens with the family surname sometime around this period - thanks to DNA we know we are descended from SLOANS! This line goes back many generations in Ardara, Ireland and also to Scotland. Our furthest ancestors on this branch are Alexander Sloan, Sarah Hicks, Robert Alexander Hamilton and Jane Phillips.
Alexander Sloan was born in 1615 in Antrim, Northern Ireland. His son William (our line) was educated at Hamilton's Killyleagh Castle School. They lived in a thatched cottage near the castle.
Sarah Hicks was born in 1620 in the same village as Alexander Sloan.
Robert Alexander Hamilton was born in 1626 in Bangor, County Down, Ireland.. His wife, Jane Phillips, was born in 1630 in Killyleagh, County Down, Ireland. Further research will pick up with these families and the history of Northern Ireland.
Margaret Cook was born in 1780 in Northern Ireland to unknown parents.
Anson Hayden was born in 1795 in Oneida, New York. His ancestry can be traced on his paternal side to Job Haydon born in 1735 in Wallingford, Connecticut. We do not know who Job's parents where or when they immigrated to America. His mother, Molly Hall's branch goes back to the early 1600s.
Anson Hayden's mother was Molly Hall. Her ancestry has several lines:: Hall, Starr, Alvord and Bishop.
Her father, Samuel Hall, was born in 1732 in Connecticut and her mother, Lois Alvord, in 1736 in Litchfield, Connecticut.
Hall & Starr Families: Samuel Hall was born in 1696 in Connecticut. His grandfather, Richard Hall, was one of the immigrants from Europe during the Great Migration in 1639. Samuel's wife, Abigail Starr, also came from a family that had arrived in the colonies during the early 1600s: Thomas Starr arrived c 1635, Joseph Weld in 1636, Nathaniel Baldwin and John Baldwin, c 1639.
Alvord & Bishop Families: Thomas Alvord was born in 1710 in Massachusetts. His paternal great-grandfather, Alexander Alvord arrived in the Massachusetts colony in 1637, and his maternal family arrived in Massachusetts as part of the Winthrop Fleet in 1630. Her grandfather Captain John Taylor was killed by Indians in the Pascommuck Massacre.
Mary Bishop was born in ........ Her family dates back to John Strong who arrived in 1636; Rev. Ephriam Hewett who came in 1639; Rowland Stebbins in 1634; and Robert Bartlett in 1632.
Hannah Mott was born in 1802 in Ontario, Canada. Her ancestry can be traced through her father, Isaac Mott and mother, Elizabeth Lawrence both of whom have deep colonial roots.
